A man in his 30s is in a critical condition after a shooting at a bar in Enfield, north London.

The alleged victim was shot at the Cora Lounge bar in Alma Road in the early hours of Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police has said as the force started an investigation.

Police were called to the incident and the victim was identified at 2.25am that morning after emergency services were called to the injured man at another location in Haringey.

The man who was was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The man’s family have been informed, a Met statement added.

Detective inspector David Hickford, from the investigation team, confirmed an investigation is under way and detectives would like to hear from anyone with information about the shooting.

He said: “This shooting has left a man seriously injured and we have carried out extensive enquiries since the attack to establish what happened.

“We know many people were in the bar at the time and many have not come forward. They may have information that could be vital to our investigation and I urge them to come forward. We need to speak with anyone who was there, whether they believe they saw anything significant or not.”

Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4684/16Feb.

The inspector added: "Gun crime has no place on the streets of London. Thankfully, incident of this kind are incredibly rare in the capital. We are doing all we can to track down whoever is responsible."
