Children were reportedly left in tears after violence broke out in Rutherglen town centre leaving one 'blood-soaked' man needing hospital treatment.
Lanarkshire Live understands the shocking incident on Main Street on Saturday afternoon involved three men.
Witnesses say kids were left crying as retail staff raced out of nearby shops to help.
A source said: "Three guys were fighting, one badly hurt with blood all over his face. Was terrible with kids crying and staff from shops running out to help."
Another added: "Hopefully they have caught the ones responsible, not what you want to see when out shopping, kids don't need to see that."
Police confirmed today that a 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and a second man, aged 32, sustained minor injuries in the attack.
