A man was taken to hospital following a serious crash on the A77 in East Ayrshire.
The incident happened around 9.20am yesterday morning when a blue BMW 32 collided with a wall near to junction six at Fenwick.
Emergency services raced to the scene and the road was closed for six hours while investigation work was carried out in a bid to establish exactly what happened.
The 48-year-old male driver was subsequently taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow treatment.
Officers have today appealed for any witnesses, or motorists with dash-cam footage, to get in touch with them.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor, from Irvine road policing unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist, please get in touch.
