A man has been rushed to hospital after being assaulted during an 'attempted robbery' in Bolton. A cordon remains in place on the corner of Halliwell Road and Brownlow Way as investigations continue.
Officers were called to a concern for the welfare of a man around 5am today (February 7) . It is believed the man was assaulted after an attempted robbery, police say.
The man was taken to hospital where they remain for treatment. The extent of their injuries in unknown at this time, Greater Manchester Police have said.

No arrests have been made and an investigation has been launched. A cordon remains in place on the pavement of Halliwell Road and Brownlow Way, blocking an off licence.
A GMP spokesman said: "GMP were called regarding the concern for the welfare of a man at around 5am this morning on Halliwell Road, Bolton. It is believed he was assaulted after an attempt robbery.
"No arrests have been made but enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting 339 of 07/02/23."
