Man hospitalised after assault by four thugs during attempted break-in his Lanarkshire home

A Lanarkshire man was left in hospital after four thugs attacked him and tried to break into his home.

They tried to take the 60-year-old victim's phone during the assault in Waterlands Gardens in Carluke.

Police have launched an appeal to hunt down the four men who made off in the direction of Stonedyke Road in two cars, one described as a white four-by-four and the other a dark coloured vehicle.

The incident happened on Saturday evening, February 18, at around 8.45pm.

The member of public who was assaulted was taken to hospital however he was not seriously injured.

Police Sergeant John Logan told Lanarkshire Live: “Fortunately the man who challenged the suspects was not seriously injured and our enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“We are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious before or after the incident or who has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“If you have information then please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3243 of Saturday, 18 February, 2023, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
