Man hit and killed by Luas tram in horror overnight incident Dublin

A man has died after being struck by a LUAS tram in Dublin.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the fatal accident at Broombridge in Cabra, Co.Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The collision occurred shortly after 1am.

A man, aged in his 50s, later passed away from his injuries. The man's body has been removed from the scene to the City Morgue where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Forensic Collision Investigators.

In a statement, gardaí confirmed: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal traffic collision between a tram and a pedestrian at Broombridge in Cabra, Co.Dublin in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, 18th September 2022.

"The collision occurred shortly after 1am. A man, aged in his 50s, later passed away from his injuries. The man's body has been removed from the scene to the City Morgue where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

"A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Forensic Collision Investigators.

"Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses of this incident or road users who may have video footage, to make this available to them. Gardaí can be contacted at Cabra Garda Station on 01 666 7400, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
