Reports from California indicate that a man allegedly took control of a city bus, leading to a reckless joyride of destruction before crashing into one of the country's most famous hotels.
The incident occurred in Los Angeles, where the unidentified male suspect reportedly hijacked a Metro bus by holding the driver at gunpoint with a BB gun. The hijacker then forced the bus driver to make several stops at different locations, as reported by local outlet KTLA5.
During the ordeal, the bus collided with multiple vehicles, disregarding basic road safety measures. Photos and videos captured during the hijacking show the bus speeding through a red light and being struck by another vehicle at an intersection.
The chaotic situation culminated in the bus crashing into the wall of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on West Olympic Boulevard. The impact caused damage to a vault located at the hotel.
Following the crash, the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators revealed that the suspect is believed to be homeless. It was later discovered that the weapon used in the hijacking was a BB gun.
Fortunately, there were no passengers on board the Metro bus at the time of the incident. However, the bus driver and a motorist involved in a collision with the bus sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
