GUWAHATI: The police in Assam arrested a 44-year-old man for murdering and attempting to rape a 14-year-old minor girl in Sonitpur district.
The accused person is a resident of the same village as the victim girl, said Kishore Baruah, a police officer of Dhekiajuli Police Station.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he killed the girl at her house. Taking advantage of absence of the other family members, he entered into the house and attempted to rape her. When she woke up and started screaming and the accused strangled her to death, said Baruah.
"I went to the house of the victim girl’s house to rape her. When she woke up and started screaming, I strangled her to death. I admit my mistake," accused Hazarat Ali said.
