The teenage girl who died after being hit by a car on a road in Cardiff on Monday night has been named by police as Keely Morgan from Caerau. Police officers were called to Heol Trelai near The 4th Glamorgan Home Guard Club shortly after 9.30pm following a report of a collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian.
The 15-year-old was declared dead at the scene and a 40-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and is currently being held at Cardiff Bay Police Station. The collision closed the road in both directions for several hours and there was a major police and emergency service presence at the scene.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said, "Keely’s family is being supported by a Family Liaison Officer and they've asked to be allowed to come to terms with their grief in private. Our thoughts remain with Keely’s family at this time."
In the meantime the force is continuing to investigate the collision. Officers are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet come forward to get in touch quoting reference *140268.
They're also keen to speak to anyone who might have dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident - along with that of either Keely or the car prior to the collision. You can do that via their website by clicking here or by calling 101.
