It's no secret that children often do the sweetest things, and one little girl has just collectively broken the hearts of thousands of people around the world with one act.
The unnamed six-year-old has gone viral on Reddit, after her foster parent shared a look at a handwritten note she gave him.
A picture of the message was shared online with a caption reading: "My 6-year-old foster daughter just handed me this note…"
The note itself is written in pencil on a small, round piece of paper and simply reads: "Plez luve me."
More than 63,000 people have upvoted the post with thousands taking the time to respond and share their thoughts.
Writing on Reddit's r/pics forum, one person urged the foster dad to reply saying "always".
The anonymous man then shared a snap of his own note for the little girl, which said: "We will always love you."
In the comments the foster parent, who says he's now "a dad" explains that he and his wife have been fostering the child and her younger sibling for the last two months and they're looking to officially adopt them.
"Four months from today we can begin the process of adopting them and getting at least two more kids out of the system," he said.
"She had stars in her eyes when she handed [the note] to me, asked me to read it while she folded her hands under her chin, and when I read it and said 'I do love you and always will' she spun around and giggled back in her room to write one for my wife.
"My heart breaks that despite every ounce of effort she doesn’t know what love truly looks like for certain…. But my heart also soars knowing that she's comfortable to give my wife and I each a note that says this on it, comfortable with us to ask us to love her."
The thread left a number of people feeling emotional, with someone else writing: "My heart, it's broken."
A second replied: "Wow that is heartbreaking."
Another person commented: "I instantly started to cry when I read her note. I was totally unloved but still with my bio family. The effects of not being loved are still with me, 60+ years later. (Maybe that's why I cried when I saw the note). I'm so very happy these kids have found you."
A different user added: "This is precious and I wish your family the best. Plez luve those precious babies with all your heart and take care."
