Couples will often walk away from their wedding proposals with heartfelt memories for life. However, one couple's picturesque moment quickly turned sour when it took a dramatic turn for the worst.
As a couple enjoyed a private evening on board a luxury boat in the middle of the ocean, the man got down on one knee at sunset to pop the all-important question to his girlfriend.
However, the romantic ocean proposal took a jaw-dropping turn when the man accidentally dropped his engagement ring into the ocean. The nightmarish moment was documented in a video on TikTok - which has surpassed a whopping 5.9 million views to date.
Proposals are stressful at the best of times - let alone when you're capturing the moment and everything goes horribly wrong.
A series of cameras snapped the proposal from all angles as the man reached into his pocket to pull out the dazzling ring.
Any worrying thoughts that his partner might not say "I do" were quickly replaced with a new found fear as the engagement ring box toppled from his hands and into the ocean during the middle of the proposal.
Putting a new spin on traumatic engagements, the man dived into the water to retrieve the ring, leaving his girlfriend bursting into fits of laughter. Thankfully, he managed to find it.
Thankfully, the woman was able to see the light of the situation and struggled to contain her laughter - even before the ring had been saved.
The video footage, which has rocketed in views online, captured everything - from the ring box falling out of his pocket, landing straight into the ocean, and the man coming to the rescue.
In the video, the man penned: "Dropped the ring in the gulf during my proposal."
Admitting that he initially went into "full panic mode", he was relieved after he was able to grab the box with the ring still intact.
Rushing to the comments, TikTokers were keen to make light of the situation despite the initial shock: "This is actually such a perfect engagement."
"I love that she’s dying laughing," a second added.
A third wrote: "Awwww this is a proposal to remember."
"From the way, he jumped in I can tell that thing was expensive," a different user joked.
A fifth penned: "Love how it floated but it's ok bc 100% effort is key."
