A train passenger found with knife injuries in Euston Station has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Northampton.

The suspect was detained by police on suspicion of murdering 36-year-old mother, Diana Dafter, whose body was found at a home in the town last Friday.

The 32-year-old suspect remains under police guard at a hospital in London after British Transport Police found him with a number of serious stab wounds at the capital’s Euston Station about midday on Friday.

A witness to the aftermath said the front two first-class carriages of the train pulling into a platform were cordoned off by police.

He told the Standard: “I just saw the police tape, with cops and 4-5 Avanti staff talking by some screens and paramedic bags.”

The body of Ms Dafter was discovered at a home in Lawrence Court, Lower Mounts, at roughly the same time the suspect was found in London.

The Home Office pathologist who carried out the post-mortem at Leicester Royal Infirmary, revealed she had died as a result of multiple stab wounds, one of which proved fatal.

Det Chief Inspector Adam Pendlebury, from the East Midlands major crime team said: “This has been an intensive few days of police activity during which a large number of officers and staff have been deployed to gather evidence from scenes in Northampton and at London Euston.

“The suspect is now under police guard at a hospital facility in London and we will be making arrangements in due course for him to be transferred to police custody.

“At this time Northamptonshire Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.”
