A 46-year-old man who was found unconscious on a major Cardiff road has died, police have confirmed. Albany Road was closed for several hours on the morning of Wednesday, December 14, as police responded to reports of an unconscious man who was taken to hospital.
Police have now confirmed that the man has died and that, while there are no suspicious circumstances, the cause of death is unexplained. The man's family has been informed and police say that enquires will continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Moore said: “South Wales Police can confirm a man who was found unconscious in Albany Road, Roath, on Wednesday morning has died. At this stage there are no suspicious circumstances, and the cause of his death is unexplained.
"Emergency services were called to Albany Road shortly before 7.40am to reports of an unconscious man in the street. The 46-year-old was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, but sadly died.
"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. HM Coroner has been informed and enquiries are continuing.”
