A man is in hospital with "serious" injuries after he was found unconscious in the street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Three men have been arrested after the man was discovered in Monnow Street in Monmouth at 1.15am on June 26. Gwent Police attended the scene and closed off the street with an officer guarding the scene into Sunday. The three males - one aged 21 and two aged 19 - were arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in police custody.
Gwent Police issued a statement which said: "We’re investigating an assault in Monnow Street, Monmouth at around 1.15am on Sunday 26 June, after a man was found unconscious. Officers attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, and the man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment.
"His injuries are thought to be serious."
