A man has been arrested after a Merseyside bank was broken into this morning.
Officers were called to Halifax Bank, on Derby Street, Huyton, at around 4am on Tuesday, November 15. Officers went into the bank, that had smashed windows, and found a man inside.
The suspect was carrying several items that were believed to be stolen. Merseyside police said, with the assistance of Knowsley Council’s CCTV network, a 46-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.

He has been taken to a police station where he remains in custody. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Community Policing Inspector Mark Berry said: "Thanks to the support of Knowsley Council and the swift action of our officers an arrest was made inside the bank early this morning. Business burglaries are not victimless crimes – they have a huge impact on our communities and staff who work there. A scene remains in place at the bank whilst our enquiries continue in the area.
"If you were near the bank on Derby Street in the early hours of this morning or driving in the area and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please get in touch and check any dashcam footage you have. Any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries."
