A man involved in a tragic stabbing incident during a river tubing excursion in Wisconsin has been found guilty on lesser charges by a state court. Nicolae Miu, 54, was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide in the death of a 17-year-old victim, along with four counts of recklessly endangering safety and one count of battery.
The incident occurred near the Apple River, where Miu fatally stabbed one victim and injured four others, in addition to punching another individual in the face. Originally facing more serious charges of first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree intentional attempted homicide, Miu's defense claimed he acted in self-defense after an unexpected encounter with the victims.
St. Croix County District Attorney Karl Anderson expressed relief at the verdict, acknowledging the tragic nature of the case.
