Man found dead in overturned mobility scooter on Scots road as cops probe death

A man has been found dead on an overturned mobility scooter on a remote Scots road.

Police were alerted to the incident on Newton Meadows in Wamphray, Dumfries and Galloway, on Thursday, March 30. Medics arrived at the scene at 7.05pm, where the 60-year-old man was found dead.

A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Meanwhile, officers have asked anybody who may have been in the area at the time of the man's death to come forward.

Police say he was found on Newton Meadows near to the crossroads junction at Plantation Cottage.

Sergeant Scott McCreadie, Roads Policing Unit, Dumfries and Galloway, said: "Although the area where the man was found is quite remote, we would appeal to anyone who may have seen him on his mobility scooter on the road between 6.30 pm and 7.05 pm.

“If you have any information that may assist our investigation, which at this time does not appear suspicious, please call officers via 101 and quote reference number 3136 of Thursday, March 30.”
