A police probe has been launched after a man was found dead on a Johnstone street this morning.
Emergency services raced to MacDowall Street at around 1.50am after reports of an incident.
The 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 59-year-old woman was also found with serious injuries.
She was rushed to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition has now been described as stable.
Cops say the man's death is being treated as suspicious and have urged anyone with any information to come forward.
McDowall Street remains closed at its junctions with High Street and Quarry Street.
A Police Spokesperson said: “Around 1.50am on Wednesday, 1 June, 2022, police responded to an incident in McDowall Street, Johnstone. Officers attended and a man, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 59-year-old woman was taken to QEUH with serious injuries, however, medical staff describe her condition as stable.
"The death is currently being treated as suspicious.
“Enquiries are at an early stage and officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information regarding it to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0213 of Wednesday, 1 June. Crimestoppers can also be contacted on 0800 555 111 where you can give information anonymously.
“As a result of the incident, McDowall Road is closed at its junctions with High Street and Quarry Street."
