Man found dead in house on quiet residential street

A man was found dead in a house on a Bootle street.

Merseyside police confirmed they were called to reports that a body had been found in a property on Cedar Street on Thursday, January 5. Officers attended at around 5.50pm and found a man in his 30s unresponsive.

They said he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were spotted carrying out enquiries in the area and also speaking to people who live in the area.

His death is not believed to be suspicious. His next of kin have been informed.

Police officers carried out enquiries last night and this morning, with neighbours confused as to what had happened on their street yesterday. One woman told the ECHO she saw "flashing lights" from police cars rushing to the street.

Another man, who lives across the house of where the body is believed to have been found, said: "I have no idea what happened. I was at work when they turned up but I know they were asking about that house because my daughter was in. Police were here and there was an ambulance parked outside."

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm emergency services were called to a report that a man’s body had been found at a property in Bootle yesterday (Thursday 5 January).

"Officers were called to Cedar Street at around 5.50pm to a report a man in his 30s had sadly been found dead inside a house. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not thought to be suspicious and his next of kin have been informed."
