A man who was found dead at a flat in Glasgow has been named locally.

Stuart Williams, 50, was found within a property on Glenisla Street, between Birnham Road and Maukinfauld Road, Tollcross, at around 5pm on Sunday. His death is being treated as unexplained.

A source who lived nearby to the victim said he had been staying at the property for the last few years to care for his elderly mum.

Another neighbour said he was shocked to see a heavy police presence. He added: "I got back and seen the cops everywhere. It was mental. We had no idea what was happening."

Police say their enquiries into the death remain ongoing. A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 5.05pm on Sunday, June 25, officers were called to a report of a man seriously injured within a flat in Glenisla Street, Tollcross, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and the 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which is currently being treated as unexplained. Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are at an early stage.”
