Police Scotland have launched an investigation after a driver was found dead in a vehicle on a Scots road on Tuesday night. The force has said they were first alerted to a report of concern for a person at 8.40pm in Aberdeenshire.
Officers then found an unresponsive man in a vehicle on the B9119 near the A93, Ballater, where a 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops in the North East advised motorists at around 9.30pm of a road closure on the A93 at Dinnet to Burn O'Vat Road, due to an "ongoing incident". The road reopened at around 2am on Wednesday morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40pm on Tuesday, 19 July, 2022 officers responding to a report of a concern for a person found an unresponsive man in a vehicle on the B9119 near the A93, Ballater.
“The 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The road was closed until around 2am.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
