A budget jetsetter has left social media users baffled after sharing how he managed to fly all the way to Ibiza to enjoy a pint for less than it would cost to buy a crate of beer in London. TikToker, Callum Ryan took to the popular video streaming site to share his journey as he said 'he set himself a challenge' to fly overseas to Spain and sit down for a drink in a bar without going over his £15 budget.
The idea came about after the 22-year-old went to his local supermarket and spotted a crate of 12 cans of Estrella for £15 and was determined to complete his adventure abroad without exceeding the store's price, the Mirror reports. The young traveller got lucky and managed to find a last-minute flight that cost him only £10 from London to Ibiza and set out to find a cheap bar on the Spanish island.
As he walked around, Callum said: "I had a little stroll around to find the most popular restaurant and headed straight there." He ordered lunch which he didn't count into the budget and then asked for a pint of Estrella and waited to see what it would cost him.
He said: "When the pint arrived, it looked beautiful. The sun was beaming down on my face and I couldn't be happier. But once I'd finished my food, it was time to pay the bill."
The pint on its own was €4 which is £3.22 in sterling, meaning Callum had just scraped the £15 limit. . Ecstatic to have achieved his goal, Callum, known as @thatonecal kissed the receipt and said: "We did it! We flew all the way to Ibiza and bought a pint cheaper than a crate of beer."
The TikToker captioned the video: "Do you think the pint was worth the trip...? Can't believe how close it was."
Since uploading yesterday, the video has already racked in over 24k views and thousands of comments, with some followers blown away by his achievement while others were not as impressed.
One person replied: "Guess I'm going to Ibiza then". Another one questioned: "How do you keep doing this?
A third remarked: "Shows how much of a joke the UK is, let's all go abroad," while another impressed user commented: "Killed it."
Others who were more sceptical of Callum's money saving hack questioned how the TikToker had gotten back to London while another noted it was 'less beer though'.
