An old chippy menu that has recently been rediscovered has sparked memories of prices of our favourite dishes from decades ago.
Before the days of Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats and apps made it virtually effortless to get food delivered to your door, a trip to the local chippy was always a treat. As children, many of us will remember being too small to see above the counter but loving the smell of what was on offer.
On Merseyside, we're lucky to have had many brilliant local chippies and chip shops past and present, from new independents to long-standing family businesses that have welcomed generations. But many of us still reminisce about how things used to be.

Prices of menu items of the past clearly reflect the time and now we're able to calculate old currency and what the equivalent would be in line of today's value. But that doesn't mean we don't feel nostalgic looking at it.
Shared a local Facebook page, the old chippy menu is believed to be from the 1970s and has left many reminiscing about the prices. In a post seen by the ECHO on 'Wirral Re-visited - Pictures Old & New,' you can see the prices of everything from English dishes to oriental dishes and more at the time from a business that was open seven-days a week.
The establishment and what year it was printed is not specified, but they've still sparked many memories from people in the area. On the menu, the majority of dishes were 45p and 55p.
At the time, for 45p you could get the likes of chicken chow mein, pork chop suey, Spanish omelette and prawn foo young, whereas dishes for 55p included a beef and pineapple oriental dish, king prawn fried rice, sweet and sour king prawn and more.
Do these awaken any memories for you? Let us know in the comments section below.
You could also buy a grilled sirloin steak or mixed grill for 65p each. And when it comes to sides and extras, customers could get everything from chips for 8p, a boiled rice for 15p, a savoury cake for 7p and a meat pie for 12p.
The least expensive item on this lost menu is green peas which cost 5p, with the most expensive being a whole chicken for £1.20. On the Wirral Re-visited - Pictures Old & New, a number of members reminisced and shared their memories of old menus, chippies and prices from years gone by.
A few people speculated that the menu was printed in the mid 1970s after the UK's currency was decimalised in 1971. Commenting on the post, one person said: "I remember when they wrapped up your chips in newspaper."
