A man who was hit by car as he tried to cross a busy road is in a critical condition.
The emergency services were called out to Townsend Lane in Norris Green at around 6.55pm last night ( Tuesday) following reports that a man had been hit by a Citroen C3.
The man was taken to hospital and today police provided an update on his condition.
A spokesman for the force told the ECHO : "The man is in a critical but stable condition."
The man was reportedly crossing the road between Norwyn Road and Sedgemoor Road when he was knocked down by a Citroen C3 and seriously injured.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene as police and paramedics rushed to the area.
Road closures were put in place at the time and drivers warned to avoid the area.
