Man fighting for his life after being hit by car on Scottish road

A MAN is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on a Scottish road.

The 32-year-old was walking on Cowcaddens Road in Glasgow at around 10pm on Saturday night when he was struck by a Ford Ecosport.

The incident happened between the junctions of Cambridge Street and Hope Street. The road was completely blocked off by police for hours.

Paramedics rushed the man to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Medical staff say he is in a "critical" condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford Ecosport was not injured in the collision.

Officers have since reopened the road but they are continuing to investigate how the incident unfolded.

They are urging any witnesses or anyone with footage of the crash to get in touch.

Sergeant Jack Swindells of the Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street, Glasgow said: “Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist to contact us.

"I would also urge anyone driving on the road around the time of the crash with dashcam footage to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 3566 of November 25.
