Man feels 'like idiot' after leaving priceless item on Dublin Irish Rail train

A man says he was left feeling "like an idiot" after he left behind a cherished item on a train to Dublin.

Eoin accidently left his bag onboard the 9.30am service from Galway to Dublin Heuston. The bag contained a 'priceless' woollen jumper that once belonged to his father.

He made a desperate appeal on Twitter after realising his bag was missing. Unfortunately the bag was not handed into Irish Rail's lost and found department.

Tweeting about the missing bag on Wednesday, he said: "Huge long shot, Saturday October 1 I was on the 9:30am Galway to Heuston Station and like an idiot I left the suit bag I had with me in the overhead storage when departing the train. I contacted @IrishRail and Heuston Station to see if it’d been handed in…

"But they said nothing had been handed in and they couldn’t help me. Im trying to locate the suit bag because inside was, among other items of clothing, a priceless woollen jumper my father had given to me, that my mother had gotten him 30 years ago when they first met…

"I don’t know if this is a pointless tweet but I’m out of ideas and I would give all my earthly possessions to get that jumper back. I don’t care about anything else that was in the bag, I just want my dad’s jumper

"Now, the only photo I have of me wearing the jumper is the photo I’m about to tweet…This isn’t a joke I swear. I am desperate to get the jumper back… so I’m hoping Twitter will do it’s thing!"

Meanwhile, Irish Rail replied saying: "Hi Eoin, Sorry that you have lost such a sentimental item of clothing. Since you lost your suit bag, have you contacted our lost property department at lostproperty@irishrail.ie? It may be worth another message in case it has since been handed into a member of staff."
