Man feels like he's living in 'horror movie' after finding hidden door in basement

A man says his life has turned into a 'horror story' after he discovered a mysterious door.

After he recently moved into a new house he found a 'hidden basement room' after exploring the property, reports the Daily Mirror.

However, he revealed that access to the room is blocked by a metal cabinet separating him from the door.

Posting on Reddit, he said: "The previous owners of my new house blocked this hidden basement room off with a shelf - the door does not lead outside."

After sharing a picture of the door the man was urged to gain access to try and "solve the mystery".

Other posters on Reddit urged the man to go inside. (u/BlurghUsername)

But he says he has watched too many horror movies to be going into such a space.

He added: "My dogs won’t go near the door so I’m doubly not opening it.

"Horror movies have taught me that the questions posed are always scarier and more interesting than any answer I could get out of it, so that motherf***** is staying closed."

One user replied: "This is absolute torture. How do you sleep at night knowing there's a door in your house that leads to the unknown? Round up a posse, live stream and open that s***!"

Another user added: "Obviously go through the door! You've got to see what's back there!"

A third user said: "Dude, you've got to open this door. Just make sure to live stream it. You know, just in case."

Another added: "Have you tried contacting the previous owners to ask them why they blocked the door? They surely must know something!"

The man did say he does want to eventually find out what lies behind the closed door.

He added: "It's truly against my nature to not open it but if my dogs don’t wanna go near it, I don’t wanna go near it.

"It’s probably nothing and I want it to be something so I want to keep that mystery alive!

"I’ll open it eventually - I just don’t want it to be nothing. The mystery’s always cooler than the answer anyway."
