A man feared his partner could have been killed after returning home to find their front door "smoking".
A woman was in bed at her Halewood home in the early hours of December 10, when she claims that someone set fire to the Christmas bow decoration on her front door. When her partner returned from a night shift at work he feared the house was on fire with her inside, after seeing smoke coming from the front door.
She said: "My husband had the fright of his life when he came off a night shift to see that our door was smoking. He thought I was dead inside."

The woman re-iterated her belief that the fire was started deliberately. She added: "I want to make it clear that the fire was not caused by lights or an electrical fault."
The 25-year-old said she dreads to think what could have happened if her partner had not came home early from work. She added: "I'm so lucky he was let home two hours early from his shift as if he wasn't, I might not be here right now. I am doing okay, I just don't think it has hit me yet."
Keen to warn others who also have these sorts of decorations, she shared pictures of the damage to Instagram. In the post, she said: "Can't even believe I'm having to warn people but everyone please be aware of having Christmas bows on your front door as some little horrors think it's funny to set it alight whilst you're in bed asleep!"
The woman confirmed she had reported the incident to Merseyside Police.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information after criminal damage was caused to a property in Halewood. At around 5.15am on Saturday, December 10 we received a report that a front door had been set alight at some point overnight.
"The fire caused damage to the front door and doorbell. If you live in the area and have dashcam footage or doorbell footage showing anything suspicious on the evening of Friday, December 9 or the early hours of Saturday, December 10, please get in touch.
"Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact us @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 22000909356."
