A man was shot to death while inside a car in the Gage Park neighborhood Monday morning.
Robert Santos, 18, was sitting in the passenger seat of the car in the 5800 block of South Western Avenue when someone in another car fired shots about 11:20 a.m., striking him in the back, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
No one was in custody.
Santos’ family set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral services.
“He was our heart and soul and everyone who knew him knows the amazing young man he was and the bright future he had,” the family wrote on the page. “He was the man of the family.”
