A MEDOWIE man is behind bars accused of running a commercial drug supply operation at Port Stephens.

Robbie James Bews, 30, appeared in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Thursday charged with 25 offences, including three counts of supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs, supplying drugs on an ongoing basis and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He did not enter any pleas or apply for bail and the matter was adjourned until October.

Bews had been on bail over a police pursuit and driving while disqualified when he was arrested at a property in Wirreanda Road at Medowie about 11am on Wednesday.

Police from the Hunter Region Enforcement Squad and Port Stephens Hunter had gone to the property as part of an investigation into an ongoing commercial drug supply operation in the Port Stephens area.

Bews was taken to Raymond Terrace police station and charged before appearing in court on Thursday, where he was refused bail on the fresh charges and his bail for the driving offences was revoked.

Police say inquiries into the supply of drugs in Port Stephens continue.
