Man in custody on gun, drug charges after Geelong mother killed

Emily Miller was shot dead in her home on Wednesday night.

A man has remanded in custody after being charged with drug and firearms offences following the death of a mother at Geelong.

Emily Miller, 31, was found with a gunshot wound to her stomach in the suburb of Whittington on Wednesday night.

She later died.

Police said they would allege 25-year-old Harry Watson was present at the house during the shooting.

He was arrested on Wednesday night, and today charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, and trafficking and possessing heroin.

In court today, Mr Watson sat in the dock with his arms folded and blew a kiss to two women who were sitting in the courtroom.

As he was led away he called out "I didn't do it, I love you" to one of the women, who blew a kiss back.

His lawyer, Simon O'Halloran, told Magistrate Daniel Muling that his client was withdrawing from heroin.

Mr O'Halloran said he was concerned about his client being in custody because of his drug withdrawal and the large amount of social media posting and news reporting about the case.

Mr Watson did not apply for bail and was formally remanded in custody.

He is due to face court again on January 16.

Last month, on Ms Miller's Facebook page, she posted she was in a new relationship with Mr Watson.

Yesterday, a family member of Ms Miller, Doreen Forehan, said the death was devastating.

"There's four little innocent children in this that've lost their mum," Ms Forehan said.
