A man has been remanded in custody after facing court accused of trying to kill a woman in Adelaide's north last week.

Elizabeth Downs man Mark Bebbington, 51, made no application for bail when he faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.

Police allege a woman sustained multiple lacerations when she was assaulted near the Ingle Farm Shopping Centre on Thursday night.

She remains in the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The court heard the case was complex and blood was found on Mr Bebbington and his belongings.

Mr Bebbington was arrested on Friday night, almost 24 hours after the incident.

The matter returns to court in November.

Police have previously appealed to the public for any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist their investigation.
