A 37-year-old man has been extradited from the United Kingdom to face domestic violence charges after allegedly almost killing a woman in Sydney eight years ago.
Police say the man assaulted the then 25-year-old woman on numerous occasions between April and July 2015.
During one attack he inflicted life-threatening injuries, police said on Thursday.
The man, who had been living in the UK, was arrested and surrendered for extradition to NSW from London.
Accompanied by police, he was flown to Sydney on Thursday and taken to Downing Centre Local Court where he was refused bail.
The man has been charged with four domestic violence offences.
