A man has been extradited from Tasmania to Queensland charged with murder in relation to an altercation two years ago.
Police said the 25-year-old from Ravenswood was initially charged with grievous bodily harm following a 2019 fight with another man in Mareeba, far north Queensland.
A 35-year-old Ayr man suffered significant injuries in the July 10 clash and was airlifted to Townsville Hospital but died five days later.
The Ravenswood man's charges were subsequently upgraded to murder.
He was arrested in Tasmania on Tuesday and Mareeba detectives travelled with the man to Queensland on Wednesday where he appeared in a Cairns court.
He has been remanded in custody and will next appear on April 27.
