Man eats FIFTEEN Easter eggs in under an hour in 12,000-calorie challenge

A British man has been defeated after attempting a 12,000-calorie Easter egg eating challenge.

Max Stanford, 34, set out to eat 21 Easter eggs in under an hour but only made it to 15 before calling it quits.

The charity worker still managed to munch his way through 9,518 calories in 58 minutes despite eventually succumbing to the sickliness of the chocolate.

"I was really excited when I started the challenge to try all the different varieties, especially as I hadn't had many of them since I was a kid," said Max.

"As the challenge went on though I did start to struggle with the flavour of the plain chocolate.

"Having the accompanying chocolate bar or bag was really helpful in mixing up the flavours and texture, such as the Daim bar or the smarties and mini eggs."

Having undertaken the challenge as part of an Easter-themed series on his YouTube account, Max spent about a week preparing - having to go to three different supermarkets to get all the eggs he needed.

He said: "I wanted to get as many different varieties of my childhood favourites as I could, like Freddos, Rolos, Smarties, Cream eggs and Milky bars!

"I had 12 different varieties of eggs - and then I had double of some so had 21 in all.

"I would definitely say my favourite was the Rolo, Milky Bar and the Daim bar!

"Those ones brought back lots of fond childhood memories as I hadn't had them in years."

Halfway through the endeavour, Max started munching on savoury snacks to switch up the flavour.

He said: "At about 35 minutes into eating, and about 12 eggs eaten I started to struggle. At that point I had a couple of corn chips to help mix up the flavour and have something salty.

"This helped me get to egg number 15 but only just within the hour mark."

Max took on the challenge as part of his Easter themed challenge series on his YouTube channel.

He said: "I really like taking on themed challenges, like for Easter, Christmas, or Halloween.

"I used to get these types of Easter eggs which came with a chocolate bar or bag of chocolate when I was a kid, but I think the most I ever got was about six.

"Back then it took me a good few weeks to eat them, but now that I do food challenges as a hobby I thought it would be really fun to see how many I could eat in one sitting."

After his defeat, Max said he didn't "feel too bad" but did experience a huge sugar rush.

"It definitely took me some time to get to sleep later on that evening," he said.

"My aim next year is to do this challenge again and get to 20."
