A man in his twenties has drowned at The Spit on the Gold Coast.
Police said three men, all in their twenties, were seen struggling in the water on Thursday afternoon about 4pm near Main Beach.
The alarm was raised by passers-by.
Two of the swimmers were able to get to shore, but the third was found in the water a short time later.
He was pulled from the sea by emergency services, but paramedics were unable to revive him.
The other two men were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
