Man dies suddenly in Bristol city centre

Police are investigating the sudden death of a man in Bristol city centre. Officers from Avon and Somerset Police were called out to Newgate, near the car park entrance to The Galleries, at around 9.50am yesterday (June 11).

Officers closed off Newgate after being called to the scene. An ambulance also rushed to the area.

In a statement issued by the force, it has been confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are now carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.

The statement from police said: "We are currently carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner following the sudden death of a man in Newgate, Bristol, at around 9.50am yesterday (Sunday 11 June). The death is not being treated as suspicious."
