A man has died on the street after being found seriously injured near to a Scots school.
Emergency services were scrambled to Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street, near St John's Primary School in Port Glasgow, at 12.40am today.
Cops locked down the streets as medics attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police investigation has been launched into the death, which officers are treating as unexplained.
Cordons remain in place in the area, as enquires to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.
Images show multiple police vehicles in attendance, and road closure signs have been erected in the neighbourhood.
Detectives have urged anybody with information about the incident to contact police on 101.
Detective Inspector Nicola Wake, of Greenock CID, said: “Officers received report of a man having been found injured in the lane between Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street in Port Glasgow around 12.40am on Friday, May 6, 2022.
“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
