A man has died after being struck by a train on a major Edinburgh line on Saturday as probe into the incident has been launched by police.
Emergency services rushed to the scene near Cramlington Station around 2am on Saturday morning, April 8. Services from the capital to London experienced severe delays as a result of the emergency incident.
Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.

The line between Edinburgh and Newcastle was subsequently shut down for several hours as passengers were urged to defer travel until later in the day, reports the Record.
Transport police have now launched an investigation into the death and the route has since re-opened.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the railway tracks near Cramlington station around 2 am on the 8th of April following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The man's family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time. The incident is under investigation."
