A man has died after a suspected hit-and-run incident in Hillingdon, west London.

The victim, in his thiries, was found with injuries and pronounced dead at the scene in Willow Tree Lane, Yeading at about 4.30am on Friday.

It has been reported that the man was hit by a van which did not stop at the scene.

The van was later traced to Gosport, Hampshire, and a man in his forties has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate and inform his next of kin, the Metropolitan Police said, with an appeal now ongoing for more information.

The force said the man arrested will be taken to London where he will be placed in police custody.

Detective sergeant Nush Puvitharan said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or any road users with dash cam footage who captured this incident to get in touch. While an arrest has been made we need to build a complete picture of the events that has led to this tragic incident.”
