A 56-year-old man died on the M8 motorway in the early hours of this morning.
Police investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy have appealed for information following the sad discovery shortly after 4am.
The incident sparked lengthy delays on the westbound stretch of road at junction 27, near Paisley, which was closed for more than two hours with traffic tailing back to Hillington. It finally reopened at 6.30am.
In a statement released this afternoon Police Scotland say the man's death is not being treated as suspicious, but they are anxious to establish the full circumstances.
A spokesman said: "If anyone was on the motorway around the time of the incident, in particular, any motorists with dash cams, please contact Police Scotland."
