A man has died in hospital a day after he was allegedly assaulted by two men in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs.
SA Police said they were called to Victoria Drive in Modbury just after 3pm on Thursday following reports a man was allegedly assaulted by two other men on pushbikes.
The victim, a 62-year-old Modbury man, suffered critical head injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
He died yesterday.
Police said they arrested a 32-year-old Modbury North man just after 5pm on Thursday and had charged him with aggravated assault cause serious harm.
He appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday, and was remanded in custody to reappear at a later date.
Police said they now expect to upgrade the charge to murder.
Police said the incident was not a random attack and they were "following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the second suspect".
They have asked for anyone who may have seen or have dashcam footage of two men riding pushbikes southwest along North East Road, south on Reservoir Road, or on Victoria Drive, Montacute Road or McIntyre Road in Modbury between 2:45pm and 3:30pm to contact CrimeStoppers.
