A man has died following a horror two-car collision on the Edinburgh city bypass on Tuesday afternoon (December 20.)
Road policing officers have issued an appeal following the smash that saw the A720 near Sheriffhall closed for hours following the incident around 1:10pm.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a silver Renault Captur and a grey Skoda Karoq. Police have confirmed that the driver of the Renault, a 66-year-old man, died shortly after being rushed to the Royal Infirmary.

Police locked down both sides of the carriageway temporarily to allow crash investigation work to be carried out, with the westbound lane opening around 4:40pm.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the crash to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and our investigation to find out the full circumstances of what happened continues.
“I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries to get in touch.
