Man dies in Dundee city centre as cops probe sudden death

A man collapsed and died in Dundee city centre this morning triggering a major emergency service response.

The victim was discovered near a bus stop on the Nethergate at about 10am today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and paramedics battled to save him.

He was then taken to Ninewells Hospital where tragically he died a short time later.

Police cordoned off the scene and remained on site for at least one hour after the tragic incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the death is not thought to have been suspicious.

The spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a man who had taken unwell on Nethergate, Dundee, around 9.50am on Tuesday.

“He was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he died a short time later.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
