Man dies in crash on A737 near Beith as road is closed for six hours

A MAN has died after a crash on the A737 near Beith.

Police say the 46-year-old pedestrian was involved in a crash with a black Land Rover Discovery Sport at around 10.45pm on Wednesday, December 20.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow collision investigations to be carried out.

Sergeant Chris McColm from Police Scotland's Ayrshire road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to contact us as your information could be vital.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash-cam or CCTV footage that could help with our investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3948 of 20 December.
