A man died in a house fire in Brydekirk on Monday morning.
Police are investigating the incident in Lady Street but said that there “do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this time”
Detective Constable James Kirkpatrick told the Standard: “Officers were called to a report of a fire on Lady Street, Brydekirk, around 9.40am on Monday.
“Emergency services attended, however a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.”
Four fire crews attended the incident.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Sadly, a man has passed away and our thoughts are with his family and the wider community at this time.”
