A man has died following a horror crash which closed a Scots road this morning.
Emergency services raced to the A70 near Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, around 7.05am today, following a one-car smash involving a black VW Passat.
Ambulance crews attended but tragically the 58-year-old male driver of a was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the man's devastated family have been made aware.
The force have launched a probe into the horror incident.
And officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the VW or has dash-cam footage from the area.
Sergeant Nicola Young said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the man who died and our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash or who has dash-cam footage that might help with our enquiries to get in touch.”
