Man dies following Hogmanay crash as road closed for several hours

A MAN has died following a crash in Argyll and Bute on Hogmanay.

Police were called to reports of a crash at around 7.30pm on Tuesday on the A83 at Whitehouse, near Tarbert, involving a grey Vauxhall Corsa.

Emergency services attended the 53-year-old male driver, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was the sole occupant of the car and police said his next of kin have been made aware.

The road was closed for around eight hours while officers carried out their investigation.

Sergeant Scott Miller is appealing for anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to come forward.

He said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and they have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone driving on the road around the time of the crash to get in touch.

“Please also check your dash-cams and if you have any footage that could help with our investigation then make contact with officers.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2695 of Tuesday, 31 December, 2024.
