Man dies following alleged stabbing outside Alice Springs pub

A man has died following an alleged stabbing in Alice Springs this afternoon.

Emergency services responded to the incident at the front of the Todd Tavern after 3pm.

Northern Territory Police say the victim was transported to Alice Springs Hospital in a critical condition, but died from his injuries.

St John Ambulance say a woman was also conveyed to hospital with facial injuries following the attack.

Police say a man is in custody and is assisting with inquiries.

They are urging anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident," a spokesperson said.

"We would like to speak to any witnesses that were in the vicinity of the northern end of Todd Street and the intersection with Wills Terrace between 3pm and 3.30pm."
