A man in his 70s has died after a multi-vehicle collision in Co Kerry on Wednesday.
The incident happened on the N21, in the townland of Knockbrack between Castleisland and Abbeyfeale at around 5.30pm.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the three-car crash.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 70s, was taken to Tralee General Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.
He later sadly passed away in hospital.
The driver and passenger of the second car were taken to the same hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardai shut the road and it remains closed this morning in order for a forensic collision investigation to take place.
They are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
A garda spokesperson said: 'Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N21, in the townland of Knockbrack between Castleisland and Abbeyfeale, Co.Kerry on Wednesday evening, 2nd March, 2022.
"The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred at approximately 5.30pm. The driver of one of these vehicles, a man aged in his 70s, was taken to Tralee General Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. The man later passed away.
"The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were also taken to Tralee General Hospital where they received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
"The road remains closed this morning as Forensic Collision Investigators carry out their examination of the scene.
"Gardaí in Listowel are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this collision to contact them.
"Any road users who were travelling on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Castleisland yesterday evening between 5.15pm and 5.45pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
